All members of the Curragh ERT are trained extensively in fire and rescue procedures, enabling the team to respond with efficiency to any on-site emergencies.

In June 2007, six members from the Curragh ERT competed in the Australasian Road Rescue Skills Challenge in Perth.  The Curragh team placed first in the Immediate Rescue and the Controlled Rescue exercises as well as winning best Technical Team and Best Medic, making Curragh the Overall Champion Team in 2007.

The challenge was made up of three parts – Controlled Rescue, Entrapped Rescue and Immediate Rescue.  Twenty teams competed and the Curragh team finished first overall.  Curragh’s previous placing in the 2006 competition was twelfth position from 23 teams.  Included in the overall score were points for Team Leader, Best Technical Team and Medic.
